The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

White Hills (St. John’s) Cannabis Production Facility (Reg.1960)
Proponent: Canopy Growth Corporation

The proponent proposes to establish and operate an 11,750 square metre licensed cannabis production facility at 390 Eastland Drive in the northeast end of St. John’s (White Hills area). The project will include construction of a two-storey, steel frame structure to house the cultivation of cannabis plants on a 4.8 hectare site. The building will include up to 33 grow/flowering rooms as well as warehousing, distribution, packaging and office space.

The undertaking was registered on May 4, 2018; the deadline for public comments is June 8, 2018; and the minister’s decision is due by June 18, 2018.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED: 

Harbour Arterial Mineral Workings Area (“HAMWA”) Expansion (Reg. 1945)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources, Mineral Lands Division

Crown Forest Management Amendment Zone 5 (District 13) (Reg.1949)
Proponent: Department of Fisheries and Land Resources

The project is released subject to the following condition:

  • The proponent must maintain a minimum 30-metre naturally vegetated buffer along all watercourses, waterbodies, and wetlands to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.

Proponent: David Noel
