Public Advisory: Consultations on Municipal Legislation Extended

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has extended the deadline for public consultations to modernize municipal legislation. The new deadline to submit feedback is January 31, 2018.

The department is encouraging residents, councils and committees to provide written submissions to share their thoughts on how to renew the Municipalities Act, 1999, the City of St. John’s Act, the City of Mount Pearl Act and the City of Corner Brook Act. The consultation process serves as an opportunity for everyone to contribute to ensure that the municipal legislative framework is enabling, more user friendly, and meets the needs of Newfoundland and Labrador’s municipal governments and residents.

The public is encouraged to contribute by visiting EngageNL.ca  or by emailing MuniLegislativeReview@gov.nl.ca.
