New CEO appointed to the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information

Stephen Clark has been appointed CEO for the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI).

Mr. Clark has been serving in the role on an interim basis since October 2016. His appointment, which was recommended through the merit-based, Independent Appointments Commission, is for five years.

NLCHI is responsible for developing and implementing the province’s confidential and secure electronic health record (EHR). The centre also works to improve the health of all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians by providing quality health information to health professionals, the public, researchers and health system decision-makers.

BACKGROUNDER
Biography

Stephen Clark has worked with the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information for over 15 years, building an extensive understanding of eHealth systems and health information management. Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Clark worked in the private sector in a variety of financial leadership positions within telco and engineering organizations.

He is a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders, sits on the national committee of eHealth Chief Information Officers, and is an active board member with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Mr. Clark is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Economics from Memorial University. He is a Project Management Professional and has a Green Belt in LEAN Six Sigma. Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is an advanced set of quality tools designed to improve an organization’s processes, and the services or products produced by those processes. The result of LSS projects range from improved quality and speed to decreased costs; from improved customer satisfaction to improved employee morale and engagement.
