The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, will hold a news conference to provide details on a software error involving the provincial Electronic Medical Record program today (Monday, December 3).

A technical briefing for media will take place in the Media Centre, Ground Floor, East Block, Confederation Building, at 10:00 a.m. Media planning to attend are asked to enter through the Visitors’ Entrance located at the link between the East and West Blocks of Confederation Building.

The news conference will follow the technical briefing at 10:45 a.m. Minister Haggie will be joined by officials from the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI), including Stephen Clark, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer and family physician Dr. Kris Aubrey-Bassler, Chair.

The Electronic Medical Record is a computer-based program designed for use by physicians and other health care providers. The program is jointly governed by NLCHI, the Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association (NLMA), and the Department of Health and Community Services.
