Provincial Government Announces New CEO for Central Health

Andrée Robichaud has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Central Regional Health Authority.

Effective November 5, 2018, the appointment is for a five-year term. Ms. Robichaud has a broad background in rural and urban health care and government, and brings extensive strategic, operational and policy development experience to her new position.

The Central Regional Health Authority provides health and community services to approximately 20 per cent of the province’s population. It is the second largest health region and serves a population of approximately 94,000. The geographical area served by Central Health includes 177 communities. The region extends from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west. Central Health has approximately 3,100 employees, about 106 fee-for-service physicians, and is supported by approximately 700 volunteers and two foundations.

BACKGROUNDER

Biography for Andrée Robichaud

Andrée Robichaud has extensive experience over the last two decades as a health care executive. Most recently, she was the Interim President and CEO of the Scarborough Rouge Hospital and has served as President and CEO of the Rouge Valley Health System, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute, and the Vitalité Santé Regional Health Authority in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Ms. Robichaud also brings strategic planning and policy development experience as the former Associate Deputy Minister of Health with the Government of New Brunswick.

Ms. Robichaud is an active participant in the community and has chaired the Conference of Federal Provincial Deputy Ministers Advisory Committee on Health Delivery and Health Human Resources. She was also board member on the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute, the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), HealthPro, and Plexxus. In 2013, she was honoured by being appointed to the Medical Council of Canada.

Ms. Robichaud is a graduate of the Université de Moncton, where she earned a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in public administration.
