The Honourable John Haggie, Minister of Health and Community Services, today announced construction will begin on the new Green Bay Health Centre in Springdale. Construction is scheduled to begin in August and is expected to take 18 to 20 months to complete.

The contract for construction has been awarded to JMJ Holdings and is valued at approximately $12.6 million.

The new Green Bay Health Centre will be an approximately 3,000 square metre facility and include space for physicians’ clinics, diagnostic and laboratory services, rehabilitation, an emergency department and a nine-bed in-patient area.

This project builds on recent health care infrastructure projects including new long-term care homes in Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor, an expanded protective care unit in Botwood, a new ambulatory care space in Carbonear, a new state-of-the-art mental health and addictions facility in St. John’s, and the advancement of the long-term care and acute care facilities in the Western Newfoundland Health Care Campus.

Budget 2018 – Building for Our Future includes investments to build health care infrastructure that meet health care needs. Budget 2018 included $6.2 million for the development of the Green Bay Health Centre.

This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents.
