The Auditor General today released her 2018 Report on the Audit of the Province’s Financial Statements, her first since assuming the role. The report provides an unqualified (“clean”) audit opinion on the Consolidated Summary Financial Statements for the year ending March 31, 2018, and comments on government’s approach to fiscal management over the short and long term.
The Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, acknowledges the work of the Auditor General in compiling this report.

“I would like to thank the Auditor General and her team for their review of the Audited Financial Statements, and for her insights into our fiscal approach. The issues identified in this report have informed our government’s balanced approach to fiscal management. As with any long-term plan, we recognize that there are pressures that will not be identified at the outset. We will continue to revise our course to overcome challenges on our path to return to surplus by 2022-23.”
