New Interim President Appointed to College of the North Atlantic

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced the appointment of Bruce Hollett as interim President of College of the North Atlantic, replacing Dr. William Radford.

Mr. Hollett has extensive leadership experience with the Provincial Government and served previously as the interim President of the College of the North Atlantic.

George Joyce will replace Mr. Hollett on an interim basis as Member and Chairperson of the Public Service Commission. Mr. Joyce is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister (Advisory Services Branch) of the Human Resource Secretariat.

Biographical Information

Bruce Hollett
Bruce Hollett has served as member and Chairperson of the Public Service Commission since 2012. Mr. Hollett has extensive executive leadership experience in the education sector having twice held the position of President of College of the North Atlantic on an interim basis, and having served as deputy minister of the Departments of Education, and Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education. Mr. Hollett has served as Fellow of the James G. Channing Chair in Public Policy at Memorial University. He has also served as deputy minister of the Departments of Environment and Conservation, Industry, Trade and Technology, and the Voisey’s Bay Project Secretariat. His earlier positions include Assistant Deputy Minister of the Voisey’s Bay Project Secretariat, and director positions in the Department of Finance and the Executive Council.

Mr. Hollett has a Master of Business Administration from York University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Memorial University.

George Joyce
George Joyce has over 30 years of experience in collective bargaining and labour relations in both the private and public sectors in the province. He has held the positions of Chief Negotiator – Canship Ugland Ltd., and Executive Director of NL Seafood Processors Association (a group representing 22 seafood companies). As well, Mr. Joyce has provided human resource and management consulting services to many local companies as a labour relations consultant and Associate with Royer Thompson Associates. Mr. Joyce spent 20 years employed with the Provincial Government as Senior Mediator, Director of Labour Relations, and Assistant Deputy Minister of Labour. Over the past two years, Mr. Joyce has been Assistant Deputy Minister (Advisory Services Branch) of the Human Resources Secretariat. During his tenure with the Provincial Government Mr. Joyce has been instrumental in resolving many high profile and controversial labour relations issues.

Mr. Joyce attended Memorial University and studied Economics.
