Chair of Independent Appointments Commission Provides Notice of Appointment Opportunity

  • Executive Council

May 1, 2018

The following notice has been issued by the Public Service Commission at the request of the Honourable Clyde K. Wells, Chair of the Independent Appointments Commission.

The Chair of the Independent Appointments Commission (IAC) today provided notice of appointment opportunity under active recruitment by the IAC.

The IAC was created by a resolution of the House of Assembly on May 25, 2016, with five Commissioners. On December 7, 2017 the Independent Appointments Commission Act (IAC Act) was amended to provide for the addition of two Commissioners.

Applications are being sought from individuals interested in being appointed to fill those positions. Commissioners do not receive compensation but all expenses are reimbursed.

The Commission carefully reviews the qualifications of applicants for appointment to the variety of governmental Agencies, Boards and Commissions (ABCs) listed in the schedule to the IAC Act. In doing its assessment the Commission applies a merit based process while also considering a variety of diversity factors, including regional representation and gender, to generate and provide to the Governmental appointing authority the names of the potential appointees who are best qualified and reflective of the population they serve.

Members of the public interested in this opportunity, or other opportunities on provincial ABCs, are encouraged to visit the IAC website and online application portal at: www.iacnl.ca
