Today, the Honourable Dwight Ball, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, unveiled the new logo for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Games which incorporates images and colours that represent the province and will help strengthen the identity of the games.

The new logo features a torch flame in the shape of the province, and can be easily adapted to include the name of the host community. A consistent logo will help establish long-term partnerships and sponsorships that will benefit future games. While elements of the logo can be customized for future games, consistent branding will result in both time and cost savings for future hosts.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Games bring together many of the provinces best athletes, trained coaches and certified officials for a week-long multi-sport competition.

Held every two years, alternating winter and summer, the games are coordinated by the Provincial Government in partnership with Sport Newfoundland and Labrador, provincial sports organizations and host communities.

The next Winter Games will take place in Deer Lake from March 10 to 18, 2018.

Quotes “The new logo for the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Games is important for both host communities and sponsors. It will allow host communities to focus resources solely on the performance and execution of the events. With the new logo comes a new legacy for the games that can carry from community to community over time.” Honourable Dwight Ball Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador

“For over 40 years, the Newfoundland and Labrador Games program has encouraged participation in sport, the pursuit of excellence and the celebration of sport in communities. The Newfoundland and Labrador Games are considered by some participants to be the highlight of their sporting experiences. The games also support our commitment in The Way Forward to increase awareness and engage individuals to take action for healthy living.” Honourable Lisa Dempster Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development

“Not only are we proud to be the host town for the 2018 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games, but we are also honoured to be the first to showcase the new logo. This is something our volunteers, organizers and athletes are very excited about. With the Games just a few weeks away I would like to take this opportunity to invite visitors to the Town of Deer Lake for the Games. We are looking forward to hosting and welcome you to our town.” Honourable Dean Ball Mayor of Deer Lake
