Tomorrow is By-Election Day in Windsor Lake

  • Office of the Chief Electoral Officer

September 19, 2018

Tomorrow (Thursday, September 20) is by-election day in Windsor Lake. Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

To be eligible to vote, an elector must be at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of both the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the district of Windsor Lake.

To find out where to vote, electors should:

  • visit the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website (electors can search by street name for their voting locations) – www.elections.gov.nl.ca;
  • refer to their green Voter Information Cards, circulated through the mail to registered electors;
  • call the district Returning Office at 576-4828; or,
  • call Elections Newfoundland and Labrador at 729-7987.

When the polls close at 8:00 p.m., preliminary results will begin to be posted to the Elections Newfoundland and Labrador website as they are received from the district. It is standard for Elections Newfoundland and Labrador’s results to be released later than those of the political parties as the counting procedure for election staff contains several levels of verification before public release.

The Official Addition of the Votes, a procedure whereby the voting tallies from by-election night are reviewed, will take place at the district Returning Office, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 23. After the Official Addition has concluded, the by-election results will be considered official.

For more information, call Elections Newfoundland and Labrador at 729-7987, the district Returning Office at 576-4828, or visit www.elections.gov.nl.ca.
