Applications are now being accepted for the 2019 Athletic Excellence Fund.
The Athletic Excellence Fund supports the pursuit of athletic excellence in Newfoundland and Labrador by helping to offset the costs of training and competition. It provides funding for the Premier’s Athletic Awards, the Elite Athlete Assistance Program, the Team Gushue Awards and the Sport NL Scholarships.
Athletes, coaches and officials who are eligible for one or more of these programs may apply using one application, which is now available on the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development website at www.cssd.gov.nl.ca/recreation/financial_assistance/athletic_excellence_fund.html. To be eligible, an applicant must be a current member in good standing with their provincial sport organization.
Completed applications must be submitted to the provincial sport organization on or before February 1, 2019. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
The Athletic Excellence Fund delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. It is one example of the Provincial Government’s focus on realizing a number of healthy living targets to help achieve a healthier tomorrow. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
