Media Advisory: Minister Dempster to Speak at Lighting Ceremony for Big Brothers Big Sisters

The Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development, will speak at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Day lighting ceremony tonight (Tuesday, September 18) to celebrate September as Big Brothers Big Sisters Month and to recognize the power of mentoring.

The ceremony will take place in St. John’s in the main lobby of East Block, Confederation Building at 7:00 p.m. Confederation Building will be lit purple, the charity’s signature colour, September 18-19.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada comprises 108 member agencies servicing more than 1,100 communities across the country. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides direct service to children by matching volunteers and youth in quality mentoring relationships.
