Applications Available for 2019 Canada Winter Games Mission Staff

The Provincial Government is now accepting applications for enthusiastic and experienced volunteers to join Team Newfoundland and Labrador as mission staff at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, taking place February 15 to March 3, 2019, in Red Deer, Alberta.

Mission staff play an important role in the organization and success of Team Newfoundland and Labrador. They provide logistical support and guidance to almost 250 Newfoundland and Labrador athletes, coaches and managers during the Canada Winter Games. Mission staff provide support in a variety of roles including uniform distribution, media relations, registration, transportation and supporting sports at the games. Selected mission staff members will be expected to attend the games for a period of one week.

Newfoundland and Labrador has been represented at the Canada Games since they began in 1967. The province hosted the 1977 Canada Summer Games in St. John's, the 1999 Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook, and is scheduled to host the Canada Summer Games in 2025.

For more information and to apply to become a mission staff member, please visit: The deadline for applications is Friday, February 16, 2018.

"The Canada Games is a key development opportunity for many of Canada's best young athletes. Through many long hours of training, dedication and hard work, athletes from all provinces and territories have the opportunity to compete in this multi-sport competition, involving some of the best athletes in their respective sport. Mission staff play a crucial organizational role. This is an incredible opportunity to work together with our Newfoundland and Labrador teams and athletes as they strive to realize their athletic potential and dreams.”
