December 27, 2018

The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who celebrate the holiday a happy Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community and culture by African people throughout the world, particularly in North America. It upholds the seven core principles of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

To recognize and celebrate the diversity of the province’s residents, the Provincial Government acknowledges cultural holidays and events, including through the 2018 Diversity Calendar, a key commitment in The Way Forward on Immigration in Newfoundland and Labrador.

This collaborative, partnership-driven immigration action plan delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
