The Honourable Bernard Davis, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and the Honourable Tom Osborne, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, will participate in Remembrance Day events in St. John’s on Sunday, November 11.

Minster Davis will participate in a ceremony at the National War Memorial beginning at 10:30 a.m. He will then attend an event at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion at the Dr. A. Leonard Miller Centre at 100 Forest Road at 2:30 p.m.

Minister Osborne will attend an event at 11:00 a.m. at the Shea Heights Community Centre, 130 Linegar Avenue.

Later in the day, he will bring greetings at the Royal Canadian Legion’s “Bells of Peace”. The event will take place at the National War Memorial at 3:45 p.m. At sunset (4:29 p.m.) the bells will start ringing 100 times. On November 11, 1918 the ringing of church bells erupted spontaneously across the country, as an outpouring of relief that four years of war had come to an end. The “Bells of Peace” event will emulate that moment of remembrance in honour of our veterans who served in WWI.
