The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes Turkish Newfoundlanders and Labradorians a happy Republic Day.

“It is my pleasure to wish Turkish Newfoundlanders and Labradorians a happy Republic Day. The historic ties between Newfoundland and Labrador and Turkey are visible throughout the province through high school cultural exchanges and street names such as The Dardanelles, Suvla, and Gallipoli, as they are in the celebrations Turkish Newfoundlanders and Labradorians mark in the province throughout the year. Soon our two governments will further strengthen ties by establishing the final monument in the Trail of the Caribou, marking sites of significance across Europe for the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.”
