Applications to the Provincial Government’s Job Creation Partnerships Program are being accepted until Friday, September 28.

The Job Creation Partnerships Program supports job creation and economic growth throughout Newfoundland and Labrador by providing individuals eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) with opportunities to improve their employability through work experience on projects that benefit their community.

Budget 2018 allocates $10.5 million to the program through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement. To date this fiscal year, 197 projects have been approved in regions throughout the province totalling $8.6 million. Projects include repairs to a slipway and warehouse renovations in Port Rexton, expanding a community garden by more than 25 plots in Channel-Port aux Basques, and a technical/maintenance person for the Lawrence O’Brien Arts Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

More information about the Job Creation Partnership Program, including the application form for employers, can be found at www.aesl.gov.nl.ca/lmda/jcp.html.

This initiative delivers on commitments in The Way Forward to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and provide better services and better outcomes for residents. The Way Forward outlines all actions the Provincial Government is taking to achieve a strong, diversified province with a high standard of living, and can be viewed at thewayforward.gov.nl.ca.
