Media Advisory: Media Availability Following Outer Ring Road Clean-up

Media interested in photographing or videotaping the Outer Ring Road clean-up on Sunday, June 11, will be provided transportation via Metrobus from the parking lot of Confederation Building, West Block. Media vehicles will not be permitted access to the Outer Ring Road.

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Transportation and Works, is participating in the clean-up during the afternoon hours. Following the clean-up, media are invited to attend a media availability at 4:30 p.m. at the Department of Transportation and Works White Hills Depot, Building 1170, Harding Road, where garbage from the Outer Ring Road is being trucked.

Minister Hawkins will be joined by Bernard Davis, MHA for Virginia Waters - Pleasantville, who is also participating in the clean-up, as well as participating city councillors.

This year, the clean-up is being done in collaboration with the City of St. John�s, Clean St. John�s, Metrobus, and Eastern Waste Management and volunteers are invited to join Transportation and Works crews in the event. To ensure a controlled, safe environment for all participants, the road will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Individuals or groups who wish to participate must register at bit.ly/ORRCleanup and children 15 and under must have adult supervision.
