Provincial Government Provides Support to St. John’s Taxi Alliance to Develop Human Resource Plan

The Provincial Government is providing $52,000 to the St. John’s Taxi Alliance to help the organization develop a human resource plan for the local taxi industry.

The human resource plan prepared by the St. John’s Taxi Alliance will be designed to guide the industry in recruiting, training and retaining employees. It will include a training plan and a business plan that will include strategies for enhancing the public image of the industry.

The initiative is designed to address the strengths and weaknesses within the industry, and identify the training needed for drivers in an effort to ensure the public receives the highest quality, safest service.

The funding is provided through the Labour Market Partnerships Program, which is administered by the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour.

The Labour Market Partnerships program is designed to encourage, support and facilitate labour force adjustments and human resource planning activities that are in the public interest. Funding is provided through the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement.
