Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award Launched across Canada

The Provincial Government is announcing a call for nominations for the Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award (EMESA). The award is delivered collaboratively by provincial, territorial and federal governments and is a prestigious recognition for exceptional service, achievement, and contributions to advancing emergency management.

The Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award was created by Ministers Responsible for Emergency Management as a result of discussions at the Federal, Provincial and Territorial meeting in May 2017. The awards include five categories:

  • Resilient Communities
  • Youth
  • Search and Rescue Employees
  • Search and Rescue Volunteers
  • Outstanding Contribution to Emergency Management

Nominations are now being accepted for both individuals and groups; nominees may be emergency management professionals from any level of government, Indigenous communities, non-governmental organizations, academia or associations. A General Selection Committee will conduct a national review of recipients in all award categories.

For more about the nominations process, visit: www.gov.nl.ca/fes/emo/awards.html or email EMESA@gov.nl.ca. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2018.
