Tender for Infrastructure Upgrades Awarded for Irishtown-Summerside

A $2.3 million tender has been awarded to West Coast Excavation and Equipment Co. Ltd to undertake upgrades to the sanitary sewer outfall in Irishtown-Summerside. Upgrades in Christopher’s Cove and the surrounding area will contribute to protecting the environment and maintaining municipal infrastructure.

The total cost for the project is $3.2 million, and it is cost-shared between the Provincial Government, the Federal Government and the municipality of Irishtown-Summerside. The Provincial Government is contributing approximately $1.1 million to the project.

Funding is supported through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund, which supports improvements to water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection infrastructure.

“Our government is committed to safeguarding public health and helping protect the province's waterways, and creating safe and sustainable communities. We are investing in projects like the one in Irishtown-Summerside to ensure that water and wastewater systems in the province are up-to-date, efficient and meet communities increasing capacity needs.”
