Provincial Government Announces Funding for New Municipal Depot in Channel-Port aux Basques

Today, the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, joined the Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and MHA for Burgeo-La Poile, in announcing approximately $2.6 million in funding for a new municipal depot in Channel-Port aux Basques under the Municipal Capital Works program.

The project will be cost-shared with the Provincial Government contributing over $1.5 million and the remaining share to be covered by the municipality. The new municipal depot will be located on Hopedale Avenue in the town’s industrial park. The state-of-the-art facility will address staffing, operations and site requirements for long-term planning.

Through Budget 2017, the Provincial Government announced that $100 million would be invested in a new three-year program to support the development of municipal infrastructure.
