Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Exploits River Non-Commercial Animal and Vegetable Farm (Reg.1912)
Proponent: Vicki Budgell
The proponent proposes to develop approximately 8.4 hectares of Crown land as a hobby farm for vegetable production and raisings cows, pigs, and poultry. Farm products are intended for personal consumption and, if the farm is successful, may eventually be used to supply public demand. The land is located approximately 15 metres from the Exploits River, southeast of Bishop’s Falls and on the east side of the river. No new road construction is needed to access the site.
The undertaking was registered on July 27, 2017; the deadline for public comments is September 1, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by September 10, 2017.
Exploits River – Sandy Point Cottage Development (Reg.1913)
Proponent: James Evans
The proponent is proposing to prepare an approximately nine hectare cottage development area adjacent to the southern shore of the Exploits River, approximately two kilometres east of Bishop’s Falls. The project will be carried out in three stages of five to six lots per year. The development will require approximately 1.4 kilometres of road and up to 900 metres of electrical power line. The lots will be serviced with septic systems and well water.
The undertaking was registered on July 27, 2017; the deadline for public comments is September 1, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by September 10, 2017.
New Bay Pond Cottage Development (Reg.1914)
Proponent: Department of Fisheries and Land Resources
The proponent is proposing to allocate up to 88 recreational cottage lots at New Bay Pond, approximately 16 kilometres north of Grand Falls-Windsor. Access to the site will be via New Bay Road. The proponent will construct up to 4.6 kilometres of Class C road over a five-year period. All sites will be prepared by individual cabin lot owners on their schedule following an approved Crown Lands cottage lot allocation process. All sites will be serviced with septic systems and well water.
