Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Springdale Junction Agriculture Forage and Pasture Land                     (Reg.1910)
Proponent: Spring Meadow Farm Inc.

The proponent proposes to develop two parcels of land for agriculture pasture and forage production in the Springdale Junction area. The two parcels of land are located on the southeast and southwest sides of the TCH approximately 0.7 kilometres and 0.5 kilometres respectively from the intersection of Route 390 (Springdale Junction). The southeast parcel of land is approximately 23 hectares in size and the southwest parcel of land is approximately 36.6 hectares in size.

The undertaking was registered on July 17, 2017; the deadline for public comments is August 25, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by August 31, 2017.

Buchans Plateau ATV Trails                     (Reg.1911)
Proponent: Plateau Outfitters Inc.

The proponent proposes to develop three ATV trails to access their outfitting lodge on Spruce Lake and remote hunting areas in the Buchans Plateau. The proposed ATV trails include a 7.4 kilometre trail to provide access from the Buchans Plateau transmission line to Spruce Lake, a 2.2 kilometre trail to provide access to southeastern hunting areas, and a 9.4 kilometre trail to provide access to southwestern hunting areas. The three trails lie in the footprint of existing trails that will be further developed to provide access to a licensed outfitting lodge and remote hunting areas.

The undertaking was registered on July 21, 2017; the deadline for public comments is August 25, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by September 4, 2017.

Peterview Gravel Quarry                         (Reg. 1886)
Proponent: D. Byrne and Sons Ltd.

The project is released subject to the following condition:

  • A minimum 30-metre naturally vegetated buffer must be maintained along all waterbodies and wetlands to protect sensitive riparian and aquatic species and their habitat.
