Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Gander Microbrewery (Reg.1897)
Proponent: Scudrunner Brewing Limited

The proponent has submitted a proposal to open a microbrewery in a standalone building at 131 Roe Avenue in Gander. The microbrewery will produce 10 hectolitres (approximately nine barrels) per batch with approximately six brew days per month. The facility will include an on-site tap room for customers to sample the product. Production is scheduled to begin during the summer of 2017.

The undertaking was registered on June 2, 2017; the deadline for public comments is July 10, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by July 17, 2017.

Secret Cove Microbrewery (Reg. 1898)
Proponent: Secret Cove Brewing Company Ltd. and "The Well" Taproom

The proponent has submitted a proposal to operate a seven-barrel capacity microbrewery and a tap room in the Town of Port au Port East. The beer produced will be small batch, hand crafted beer made from all natural ingredients (water, yeast, grain and hops) and no added preservatives. The establishment will be open to the public on a seasonal basis from May until October.

The undertaking was registered on June 5, 2017; the deadline for public comments is July 10, 2017; and the minister’s decision is due by July 20, 2017.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Terra Nova Road Quarry (Reg. 1888)
Proponent: Dexter Construction Company Ltd.

The project is released subject to the following conditions:

  • A water resources management plan for the site must be approved by the Water Resources Management Division prior to the start of construction.
  • Vegetation must not be cleared between April 7 and August 15.

UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

Glovertown Cranberry Farm (Reg. 1890)
Proponent: Mega Healthy Cranberry Farm
