Provincial Government Participates in Funding Announcement for Water and Wastewater Upgrades in Conception Bay South

Today, Betty Parsley, MHA for Harbour Main, on behalf of the Honourable Eddie Joyce, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, was joined by Ken McDonald, Member of Parliament for Avalon, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure, and Steve Tessier, Mayor of the Town of Conception Bay South, to announce funding to upgrade the Conception Bay South water and sewer system.

The Provincial Government is contributing up to $971,849, while the Federal Government is contributing up to $883,412 to this project. The Town of Conception Bay South will provide the remainder of the cost.

The project includes various lift station updates, improved storm water drainage, increased sewer system capacity, and the water metering infrastructure for monitoring and maintaining infrastructure for Town operations. Collectively, these components will improve and expand the water and wastewater network in the community of over 26,000 residents and more than 600 businesses so that they have clean, potable drinking water, as well as sufficient storm water and sewer service capacity.

Not only will these upgrades ensure that the town can continue to provide quality service to its residents and tourists, they will support local businesses and promote broader economic benefits in the region.
