Public Advisory: Monitoring Data Now Available Online

The Methylmercury Monitoring Plan for Surface Water Quality – Muskrat Falls Reservoir, Churchill River and Lake Melville and the current data obtained under this monitoring plan are now available at: //www.ecc.gov.nl.ca/methylmercury_mrf.html

The plan involves the monitoring of the Muskrat Falls Reservoir, the downstream river and Lake Melville and the assessment of changes in the level of methylmercury in water and sediment due to the creation of the reservoir.

The initial data collected under the plan represents the establishment of a baseline for methylmercury and related parameters that can be compared with future monitoring results.

The current data indicates that methylmercury levels in the reservoir, as well as the downstream river and in Lake Melville, are near or less than the level of detection and in keeping with levels found naturally in the environment.

Updates will be provided on this site as sample analysis results become available.
