Minister Parsons Releases Report from Inquiry into the Death of Donald Dunphy
The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, today released the report from the Commission of Inquiry respecting the death of Mr. Donald Dunphy. The commission was established to examine the facts and circumstances of the death of Mr. Dunphy and to make recommendations to avoid future tragedies such as this one.
Justice Leo Barry of the Supreme Court was appointed as commissioner of the inquiry and was presented with the Terms of Reference on September 23, 2016. Public hearings began on January 9, 2017. Justice Barry presented his report to Minister Parsons today.

It was a priority to make the report on the inquiry into Donald Dunphy’s death available to the public as quickly as possible in an effort to address matters of public concern in a timely, open and transparent manner.
Minister Parsons and Justice Leo Barry will be available to the media today at 3:00 p.m. in the Media Centre, East Block, Confederation Building. Media planning to attend are asked to pre-register via email (doriswalsh@gov.nl.ca) or telephone 709-729-3812, 691-7478. Those who do not pre-register will have to proceed through the visitor entrance to access Confederation Building. All registered media will have access through the northeast entrance.
