Media Advisory: Minister Parsons to Participate in National Police Week Activities

The Honourable Andrew Parsons, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, will participate in events recognizing police and peace officers as part of National Police Week. Today (Monday, May 15), the minister will join the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to officially launch National Police Week with a cake-cutting ceremony that will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Association for New Canadians, Strawberry Marsh Road, St. John's.

On Wednesday, May 17, the minister will attend an International Police and Peace Officer Memorial Service at the Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 30 Aldershot Street, St. John's, at 11:00 a.m.

The aim of National Police Week 2017, which runs from May 14 to 20, is to increase community awareness and recognize policing services while strengthening police-community ties.
