Auditor General Appointed

The Honourable Perry Trimper, Speaker of the House of Assembly, announces the appointment of Julia Mullaley, CPA, CA, as the Auditor General.

Ms. Mullaley’s appointment was confirmed by resolution of the House of Assembly on December 7, 2017, as per Section 4 of the Auditor General Act. She succeeds Terry Paddon, CPA, CA, who retired on October 31, 2017.

“I extend my congratulations to Ms. Mullaley. Her varied experience will be an asset to that office and I wish her well in her new role. I would also like to thank Mr. Paddon for his exemplary service to the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and wish him well in his retirement.”

Speaker Trimper would also like to extend appreciation to Deputy Auditor General, Sandra Russell, CPA, CA, for serving as interim Auditor General.

Julia Mullaley, CPA, CA
Prior to her appointment as Auditor General, Julia Mullaley most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (acting). She has also served in various capacities within the public service including Clerk of the Executive Council and Secretary to Cabinet; Deputy Minister, Department of Advanced Education and Skills; Deputy Minister of Municipal Affairs; Deputy Clerk of the Executive Council and Associate Secretary to Cabinet; Assistant Deputy Minister (Business Investment), Department of Business; Assistant Deputy Minister (Royalties and Benefits), Department of Natural Resources; Executive Director of Planning and Co-ordination with Executive Council; Director of Budgeting with Treasury Board Secretariat; and Audit Principal with the Office of the Auditor General. Ms. Mullaley is also a recipient of the 2009 Public Service Award of Excellence. Ms. Mullaley graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) from Memorial University, followed by a Chartered Accountant professional designation. She resides in Mount Pearl with her husband Cyril and their four children.
