Provincial Government Releases Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan Six-Month Update
The Provincial Government today released its six-month update of Towards Recovery: The Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan for Newfoundland and Labrador. After six months, 51 of the 54 recommendations are completed or in-progress.

Released in June, Towards Recovery outlines 54 short, medium, and long-term goals to transform mental health and addictions care in the province. Eighteen short-term goals will be substantially completed by March 2018, while 23 medium-term goals will be substantially completed by March 2021. Thirteen long-term recommendations will be substantially completed by March 2022.
Towards Recovery is being implemented by eight project teams including people and families with lived experience, policy makers, community, regional health authorities, Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information and Provincial Government representatives. There are more than 200 individuals serving on teams and working groups under the Towards Recovery Action Plan.

Progress reports on implementation will continue to be provided to the public. The six-month report was released after consultation with the Provincial Advisory Council on Mental Health and Addictions and the Recovery Council.
