Government Announces Interim CEO for Labrador-Grenfell Health

Barbara Molgaard Blake has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority. Effective August 1, 2017, Ms. Blake replaced Tony Wakeham as Chief Executive Officer upon the conclusion of Mr. Wakeham’s contract. The Independent Appointments Commission has been engaged to fill this position and will use the merit-based appointment process.

Labrador-Grenfell Health provides services to a population just under 37,000. The health authority covers the communities north of Bartlett’s Harbour on the Northern Peninsula and all of Labrador.

Newfoundland and Labrador is the first Canadian province to establish a legislated merit-based appointment process. The Independent Appointments Commission supported by the Public Service Commission is actively recruiting for a number of positions with agencies, boards and commissions.

BACKGROUNDER

Biography for Barbara Molgaard Blake appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority.

Barbara Molgaard Blake has worked with the Labrador-Grenfell legacy health authorities since 1991, moving into a senior executive role with the current Labrador-Grenfell Regional Health Authority upon its creation in 2005. Since then, Ms. Blake has served as a Chief Operating Officer and as a Vice-President in a number of capacities. Ms. Blake has a Masters in Health Administration, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) from the University of Ottawa.
