From This Rock Culinary Tour Connects People to Food Industries

For the seventh consecutive year, the From this Rock Culinary Tour will incorporate local agriculture and seafood products into its menu to increase awareness of these industries. The tour will visit nine communities on October 26 with the Grand Finale in St. John’s on November 3.

The From this Rock Culinary Tour is supported by the Department of Fisheries and Land Resources which provided a $10,000 sponsorship as well as marketing support for the 2017 events. A full schedule can be found at - ranl.ca/from-this-rock-culinary-tour-and-dinner-of-local-fare/ External Link Icon

Organized by the Restaurant Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, the tour consists of a team of chefs who travel across the province to create multi-course meals at various locations. Since its inception, the tour has become a partnership between farmers, fish processors, food producers, chefs and restaurants.

The 2016 tour included 12 stops with more than 20 chefs preparing and serving over 6,100 plates of local food.

As part of The Way Forward vision, the Provincial Government is directly engaging the aquaculture and agriculture sectors to address industry needs in ways that result in new employment and economic activity throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
