Provincial Government Acknowledges National Seniors Day and International Day of Older Persons
The Provincial Government, along with Canadians and citizens from around the world, join to recognize National Seniors Day and International Day of Older Persons, observed annually on October 1.
National Seniors Day pays tribute to seniors who continue to shape and influence Canadian communities, workplaces and society. International Day of Older Persons is a global effort aimed to recognize the important contributions of seniors and to increase understanding of the challenges faced by some older adults.
Given an aging population in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Provincial Government is focusing on charting a path forward to ensure that older adults throughout the province remain healthy, active, and engaged citizens, living in their own homes and active in their own, age-friendly communities for as long as possible.
