Celebrating the Official Opening of East Point Elementary School

A ceremony was held today to mark the official opening of East Point Elementary, a new K-6 school located in the east end of St. John’s.

The Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, and Bernard Davis, Parliamentary Secretary for Service NL and MHA for Virginia Waters - Pleasantville, participated in the special event which was held in the school’s gymnasium.

East Point Elementary includes 17 classrooms, a gymnasium, a stage, a lunch/multipurpose room with a commercial kitchen, a learning resource centre, a music room and a family resource room. The school, which was constructed at a cost of approximately $20 million, currently has 160 students enrolled and can accommodate approximately 340.
