Celebrating World Teachers’ Day
The dedication and contributions of teachers and educators in Newfoundland and Labrador and throughout the world are being recognized today in honour of World Teachers’ Day.
World Teachers’ Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations (UNESCO) in 1994 and is celebrated annually on October 5. This year’s theme is ‘Teaching in Freedom, Empowering Teachers’.
Newfoundland and Labrador is home to over 5,600 teachers who work in classroom settings and administrative roles in our province’s school system.
