Minister Hawkins to Engage Independent Mediator in Labour Dispute

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, today announced he will be appointing an independent mediator to help facilitate a resolution to the labour dispute between DJ Composites and Unifor Local 597.

The department has provided conciliation services to the parties since August 2016. In an additional effort to resolve the dispute, the assistance of an outside mediator is being sought. DJ Composites and Unifor have been notified of this decision.

Minister Hawkins has met separately with both parties to discuss potential courses of action to resolve the dispute, recognizing the challenges being experienced by those involved.
