Minister Wishes Muslim Newfoundlanders and Labradorians a Happy Eid al Adha

The Honourable Al Hawkins, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, wishes all Muslim Newfoundlanders and Labradorians a happy, blessed Eid al Adha.

For Muslims in this province and throughout the world, Eid al Adha is a time of reflection, empathy, family engagement, and community outreach – especially charity work. It is the second Eid festival of the calendar year and coincides with Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca which must be undertaken once in a lifetime by all Muslims who are physically and financially able.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, Eid al Adha will begin on Friday, September. 1.

Quotes
“At this time of celebration of compassion and caring, I wish our growing community of Muslims in Newfoundland and Labrador a joyous Eid al Adha. May this be a memorable holiday of celebration and reflection.”
Honourable Al Hawkins‎
Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour
