Provincial Government Announces Appointment to Memorial University Board of Regents

The Provincial Government today announced the appointment of Margarette Leandre as the Grenfell Campus Student Union Representative to the Memorial University Board of Regents. Ms. Leandre’s biographical information is provided in the backgrounder below.

The Board of Regents is the corporate body of Memorial University. The management, administration and control of the property, revenue, business and affairs of Memorial University are vested in the Board of Regents.

The Independent Appointments Commission Act applies to all members of the Board of Regents, with the exception of student appointees. Students are nominated by the student unions and submitted to the Provincial Government for consideration.

Biographical Information of Margarette Leandre

Margarette Leandre is third-year General Sciences student at the Memorial University Grenfell Campus. During her time at Grenfell, she has been volunteering with student life and student issues. In 2016 she represented Grenfell Campus at the Racialised and Indigenous Students’ Experience Summit in Toronto, Ontario.
