Public Advisory: Update Provided on Repairs to MV Veteran

Users of the Fogo Island-Change Islands ferry service are advised that repairs to the MV Veteran are proceeding. Additional technicians and machinery have arrived in Gander and the vessel has been permitted by regulatory officials to sail, without passengers, to Farewell to finalize repairs.

Arrangements are still being made for the MV Capt. Earl W. Winsorto enter service with crossings anticipated to begin tomorrow (Saturday, January 23).

Travellers are also advised that weather conditions have led to a suspension of fixed wing and helicopter services for the day.

The department assures travellers that every effort is being made to repair the MV Veteran and return it to service and thanks everyone for their cooperation and understanding. The department appreciates the importance of this ferry and the urgency to return to full service, and apologizes for the inconvenience.

Additional details and updates are being sent to ferry user committees and communities, in addition to information being posted on social media and at www.tw.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices/index.stm. Additional public advisories will also be issued as needed.
