Public Advisory: Important Update on Support Enforcement Payments

Due to a potential strike action at Canada Post which could occur as early as August 28, the Support Enforcement Program (SEP) has taken steps to minimize the impact on the delivery of support payments to its clients.

In the event of a strike, SEP will stop mailing cheques on Monday, August 29. To ensure timely delivery of support payment, please check the Integrated Voice Response (IVR) system at 709-729-3295 (toll free 1-800-563-5330), or log into the online web portal - sea-remote.justice.gov.nl.ca. If a payment has been processed for you, you will be instructed to immediately call the SEP office at 709-637-2608 (toll free 1-855-637-2608) to provide your banking information. SEP will then electronically deposit your support payment directly into your bank account.

If there are circumstances beyond your control whereby you do not have access to a bank account, SEP will deliver the cheque to Advanced Education, Skills and Labour offices throughout the province for availability on Wednesday of each week. Such clients are advised to contact SEP for the location for pick-up.

Clients who currently receive support payments by Direct Deposit will be unaffected by this potential postal disruption.

The Department of Justice and Public Safety apologizes for any inconvenience that this might cause.
