Public Accounts Committee Update

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the 48th General Assembly held its third meeting on September 28. The Office of the Auditor General briefed the committee on their work and the relationship between that office and the committee. The committee also discussed the Report of the PAC of the 47th General Assembly which will be tabled when the House reconvenes.

The Public Accounts Committee is a seven-member non-partisan oversight committee which includes members of all political parties in the House. The role of the committee is to hold government accountable for its expenditure of taxpayers' money and stewardship of public assets. The committee reviews the public accounts of the Province and the audit reports of the Office of the Auditor General and holds public hearings as necessary on the findings of the reports.
