Media Advisory: Minister Byrne to Launch Immigration Strategy Roundtable Discussions
The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of Advanced Education and Skills, will attend the first Immigration Strategy Roundtable Discussion tomorrow (Friday, August 12). The session takes place at 1:00 p.m. at the Association for New Canadians, 10 Smithville Crescent, St. John�s.
This is the first of five roundtable discussions scheduled throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. The sessions will provide residents with an opportunity to participate in the development of a new immigration strategy which will address the province�s demographic and labour needs and attract economic investment. A full list of roundtable discussions in August can be found in the attached backgrounder.
Members of the local business community, post-secondary institutions, employers, labour organizations, municipal and local leaders and representatives of community groups are all encouraged to attend. The public is also invited to express interest in participating by emailing immigration@gov.nl.ca or by calling 709-729-6607.
Individuals unable to attend a roundtable but who wish to participate are encouraged to indicate interest in participating via teleconference. Disability-related supports and accommodations are available upon request. Individuals can also submit written comments by September 30, 2016, by completing the fillable discussion document available at www.aes.gov.nl.ca and returning to immigration@gov.nl.ca.
