Public Advisory: Further Details Provided on Detour Routes for Trans-Canada Highway Closure near Soldier's Pond

The Department of Transportation and Works is reminding motorists that the Trans-Canada Highway (TCH) in the Soldier's Pond and Kelly's Pond area will be completely closed from 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, to 6:00 a.m., Monday, November 16. The closure is to accommodate the installation of a new culvert at Kelly's Pond, spanning the four lanes of the TCH.

During the upcoming closure, the following detours will be in place. Drivers should plan for an additional 20-30 minutes driving time in most cases.

Eastbound TCH via Route 2 Interchange

Head northeast on Salmonier Line to access Conception Bay Highway (Route 60), continue on Peacekeepers Way (Route 2) to Route 2/TCH Interchange to TCH East

Holyrood Access Road (Route 62) - Exit 36

Eastbound TCH via Route 2 Interchange

Head north on Holyrood Access, turn right onto Conception Bay Highway (Route 60), continue onto Peacekeepers Way (Route 2) to Route 2/TCH Interchange to TCH East.

Witless Bay Line (Route 13) - Exit 37

Pitts Memorial Drive (Route 2)

Head southeast on Witless Bay Line, turn left to Southern Shore Highway East (Route 10), continue onto Robert E. Howlett Memorial Drive (Route 3) to Pitts Memorial Drive (Route 2).

Foxtrap Access Road (Route 39) - Exit 39

Westbound TCH

Head northwest on Foxtrap Access Road to Peacekeepers Way South (Route 2), continue onto Conception Bay Highway (Route 60) to Holyrood Access Road (Route 62) to TCH West.

Motorists are reminded to pay particular attention to detour-specific signage, as well as all other road and highway signage, and are asked to follow the posted speed limits along the various alternate routes.

The Department of Transportation and Works requests the cooperation and patience of drivers, and apologizes for any inconvenience the TCH closure may cause.
