Provincial Government Issues Tender for Sale of Former Hoyles Escasoni Complex

A tender has been issued for the sale of the Hoyles Escasoni Complex in St. John's. The facility was replaced last year with the new state of the art long-term care facility on Newfoundland Drive.

"Prior to going to public tender to sell the former Hoyles Escasoni Complex, other options, such as the feasibility of demolishing or redeveloping the site for other purposes were investigated. Through this process of due diligence, we have determined that the best option is to place the building on the market for sale."
- The Honourable David Brazil, Minister of Transportation and Works

The value of the former Hoyles Escasoni Complex will be driven by the market through the public tendering process. A decision to move forward with a sale of the building will only be made if the results of the tender call demonstrate good value for the Province Government.

The Department of Transportation and Works manages the portfolio of Provincial Government buildings and leased space throughout the province. There are approximately 860 government buildings, of which 25 are currently vacant.
