Investing in Infrastructure Development
Twillingate Region to Receive Road Upgrades
Upgrades to provincial roads in the Twillingate and Virgin Arm areas will be completed this construction season as the result of a tender valued at just over $2 million awarded to J-1 Contracting Ltd of Clarenville.

The tender call is for asphalt leveling on the following roads:
- Approximately one km on Hospital Road and Hospital Lane in Twillingate;
- Approximately two km from the Route 340 intersection to Back Harbour Road in Twillingate;
- Approximately 0.7 km from Route 340 Virgin Arm towards Parkview and one km from Fairbanks intersection towards Hillgrade, and approximately 0.4 km of Route 345 from Route 340/345 intersection into the Town of Virgin Arm;
- Approximately 2.3 km on Point Road Virgin Arm from Route 345-11 intersection towards the end of Point Road;
- Approximately one km Route 340-17 intersection to the Town of Baytona; and,
- Approximately four km between Holmes Cove and Reach Run Causeway on Route 340.

Additional funding of $6 million has been allocated this season for the Provincial Roads Program and brush-clearing, with much of the work focused on upgrades and enhancements to provincial roads in rural parts of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Over the past three years, more than $400 million has helped maintain, upgrade and enhance hundreds of kilometres of roads, as well as replace 23 bridges and repair 40 other bridges throughout the province. High quality transportation infrastructure is integral to the social and economic growth of Newfoundland and Labrador, which are key elements of the recently launched Population Growth Strategy.
