Media Advisory: Minister to Announce Inclusion Grant Recipients

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Seniors, Wellness and Social Development and Minister Responsible for the Status of Persons with Disabilities, will announce the 2014-15 Inclusion Grants Program recipients at the Annual General Meeting of the Coalition of Persons with Disabilities Newfoundland and Labrador (COD-NL) tomorrow (Thursday, May 28). The AGM is taking place at the Fairfield Hotel on Kenmount Road in St. John's, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The Inclusion Grants Program was developed in 2012 as a component of Access. Inclusion. Equality. A Provincial Strategy for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities. The program provides $200,000 annually to support non-profit, community-based organizations to create, or improve, the accessibility of the built environment (which includes buildings and facilities, playgrounds, sidewalks and boardwalks), or provide disability-related accommodations (sign language interpretation, real time captioning and audio support for assistive listening devices) at events and meetings.
