Keeping Affordable Housing Options Available

NL Housing Continues Neighbourhood Revitalization

A $284,000 contract has been awarded to Eastern Siding Systems Inc., to provide exterior renovations and miscellaneous repairs on two Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation buildings located on Cashin Avenue in St. John's.

"The contract will enable major exterior renovations to be completed on two more social housing buildings in the Cashin Avenue-Froude Avenue neighbourhood. These upgrades will enable the corporation to continue providing safe and affordable homes for eight families and individuals."

Each building contains four units, and the renovation work will include siding, window, door and roofing replacements, along with plumbing, electrical and ventilation upgrades. The anticipated completion date for both projects is August 2015.

In 2014-15, Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation is investing $10 million to renovate another 450 social housing homes throughout the province.
