Media Advisory: Minister to Demonstrate Bicycle Helmet Safety

The Honourable Dan Crummell, Minister of Service NL, will discuss new requirements regarding bicycle helmets today (Friday, June 19) at 3:45 p.m. at the Canadian Tire store located at 40 Hebron Way in St. John’s.

Minister Crummell will be joined by representatives from Canadian Tire, as well as youth participating in Boys and Girls Clubs of St. John’s programming. The event will include a demonstration of the “2V1” approach to selecting a bicycle helmet, and will recognize a charitable donation of helmets from Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities.

Jumpstart is Canadian Tire’s national charity that helps children from financially disadvantaged families participate in organized sport and physical activity by assisting with the costs of registration, equipment and/or transportation. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped over 41,880 kids across Newfoundland and almost 1 million nationwide get in the game.
